well I guess i will be shutting this down soon. I was hoping to raise awareness, but considering noone reads this I believe I am failing. As for Pediatric Stroke Awareness Month, well, I will keep the purple in my hair and I will continue to challenge myself daily, but the blog is going to go.
My goal in this was not only to raise awareness, but also to meet other parents of kids going through the same thing. I have followed others streaks, commented and not one person returned the favor. What a show of support.
So unless I can figure out a reason to do otherwise this will be my last post. I am an advocate for my kid even when no one else is.
I don't think you should quit posting. People may be reading even if they aren't commenting. It sounds like your doing a good job with your streak so far, keep up the good work. Maybe thinking of Caleb will help, he keeps going weather people are watching and cheering him on or not and so should you. YOU CAN DO IT! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Lucky Mama 100% You never know who may come across this blog and be heartened just to find that there are people out there in the same boat whose children are dealing with the same difficulties that theirs do daily as well. Just remember, you're doing this for Caleb and others like him.
ReplyDeleteBlogging to raise awareness is tough...nobody read my blog for the first few months (well, except my mom and husband...). Maybe think of it as not being so much for other people to read as for you to get some thoughts out of your brain through your fingers...? For what it's worth I have you in my Google Reader and my awareness has been raised. Sorry if I withheld that encouragement from you when you needed it. It wasn't intentional.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your comment box is still doing that thing where it takes me four or five tries to even get to the preview page to post, if others are having that same problem it would be a big deterrent and a reasonable explaination why nobody comments.
ReplyDeleteHello-Please don't give up or feel bad that no one is reading your blog! I started one, too, but haven't kept it up to date. My son, Travis, is 19 and RH- he was just accepted to UNLV! We are so excited and proud! I will read your past posts and catch up on you and your son!
ReplyDeleteYour freind,
Debby Higgins
Thank you for doing this.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Your hair looks great, first of all! I called my hairstylist before doing our hair and she recommeded Beyond the Zone Color Jamz. We got both colors of purple and mixed them together. Since mine, along with 2 out of the 3 kids' hair is dark, we had to get it bleached before adding the color. My youngest daughter's streak turned out awesome! Really purple and looks great! The rest of ours? Turned out kinda blue, especially mine. The color hasn't dulled, but we are going back sometime this upcoming week to get it touched up to last the rest of the month.
ReplyDeleteHow long have you lived in Cincinnati? I used to live in Burlington, which is just south of Cinci. Moved from there about 3 years ago, to live just outside of Louisville, lived there for 3 years, and now we live in Pennsylvania. We absolutely loved the Cinci area...was sad to leave, but my husband's job keeps us on the move!
I hope you will continue to do your blog! Can I post it on my facebook page? Maybe that will generate some awareness. Thanks and hope to talk to you soon.

Wondering if my first comment went through? The poster above said there was trouble with the comment box so I was just wondering...
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll keep blogging. We're in the process of having the CHASA (Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association) website redesigned and when that's done, there will be a section where we'll link to all the blogs. That will bring many new readers to your site. I sent a message to you on facebook - hope you got it. ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteWow! First off I would like to say thank you to everyone! I never expected this kind of response! I will keep posting, I was never going to give up on the streak, just the blog, but after all of the support I have gotten in one day I am changing my mind. It's hard going at it alone for so long, and I appreciate every one of your comments! @Lucky Mama are you streaking too? Reading what others are doing helps keep my steak alive. @Christina, you are the one person who has been there from day one. You held my hand while I was having my C-section with Caleb, you are the sister I have never had and I know you will always support me and Caleb, and be there to catch us when we fall. I love you Crissy <3 @Kate thank you so much for adding me, and even if you are the only person who has learned anything, that is one person more who can help raise awareness. @Debby, what an inspiration you have in your son. Caleb wants to be a Doctor or a Teacher, I know college is in his future, and hearing a story such as yours is truly and inspiration.@Ellen you are welcome, thank you for encouraging me to continue :), @Becky, I have lived in the Cincinnati area my whole life. My hubbys family is from Louisville though. The Color Jamz is the dye that I am currently using, but its a combination of the Purple Passion and the bubble head pink! The pink really helped with the tendency for it to turn blue @Katrina, I only see the one comment from you, I am not sure what is wrong with this blogs comments, but Christina told me a couple days ago that it was acting up. Thanks for reading even if the blog is stubborn. @Nancy,you are an inspiration for all families of HemiKids. Thank you for all that you do, and I promise to keep doing my part.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I love you too sweetie, and that little troublemaker of yours too ♥
